Regional Forum on Climate Change Ends in El Salvador

San Salvador, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The Second Regional Dialogue on climate finance in Latin America and the Caribbean concluded today in this capital with the decision to continue giving priority to the issue of climate change.

The two-day meeting brought together delegations from 25 regional countries and representatives of 15 United Nations agencies and other international entities.

A report from the Salvadoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs states among its agreements to highlight the urgent need for developed countries to make available, according to its commitments, large-scale resources in a balance between mitigation and adaptation.

The document also makes reference to continue coordination and organization with multilateral, bilateral agencies, and other relevant actors, minimizing the cost of intermediation, and guiding efforts and resources.

The text adds that these actions should be consistent with national priorities, ensuring transparency of these efforts, reducing fragmentation, and improving access to climate finance, among others.

In the context of discussions in this conclave, participants identified the priorities, opportunities, and challenges at the national, regional and global level, the report says.
