Floods Kill More than 50 in Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) More than fifty deaths and thousands victims left the floods caused by the monsson rains in the Pakistany provinces of Punjab (northeastern), Sindh (South) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (northwest).

According to press reports, the water level exceeds the meter and a half in various areas, leaving many roads blocked and flooded large areas of farms amidst protests for the late response of the authorities.

In the southern Karachi, capital of the province of Sindh, rains flooded the financial center and keep it virtually paralyzed, the largest city of Pakistan.

Authorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported that in that province torrents swept hundreds of houses and disrupted electrical service.

The situation may worsen in those territories, as forecasters said raining will remain in the next few days.

In 2010 Pakistan suffered the worst flooding in 80 years with nearly 1,800 people killed and 21 million victims.
