Saint Kitts and Nevis on Alert for Dengue Fever

Basseterre, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) Health authorities of Saint Kitts and Nevis are on alert today due to the outbreak of dengue fever in Dominica and called citizens to tighten security measured to tackle the disease.

Some dengue fever cases were reported in Dominica. "When your neighbor's house catches fire, carry water to your own", stated doctor Patrick Martin, who was quoted by Winn FM radio station.

The dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by a virus transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, very common in the Caribbean.

Martin noted the heavy rainfall that affected Saint Kitts and Nevis in the last weeks allow the spread of that insect.
