Almost 7,000 Cases of Dengue Reported in Dom Rep

Santo Domingo, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) The number of people infected by dengue in Dominican Republic during 2013 amounts today to 7,975.

A report from the General Directorate of Epidemiology, of the Ministry of Public Health, states that about 394 cases were reported in the last week, and two girls, aged seven and 11 months, respectively, were killed.

Both girls lived in the northwestern province of Santiago, one of the four regions with the highest incidence of the disease in recent times.

Espaillat and Duarte, in the northern region, and the National District, present similar situation, where health officials called on people to change their attitude towards the disease.
