China on Alert for Typhoon Utor

Beijing, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Chinese authorities maintained today the orange alert due to the arrival of typhoon Utor and temporarily suspended sea and railroad transportation services through Qiongzhou strait.

Utor, the eleventh typhoon that affects this country in 2013, will arrive in the Chinese coasts between Hainan and Guangdong today, according to a communiqué issued by the National Center of Marine Environmental Forecast.

Authorities issued the orange an yellow alert in Hainan and Guangxi and activated the emergency response protocol given the threat of Utor.

Typhoon Utor killed three people and left 11 missing when it affected the Philippines.

Utor will be the third phenomenon that affects China in the last two weeks, preceded by Jebi and Mangkhut.
