Congo to Develop Anti Malarial Drugs

Brazzaville, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) The Congolese government aims to develop the research and pharmaceutical industry, and today one of its priorities is the creation of a plant to produce antimalarial drugs.

The announcement was made by Minister of Culture and the Arts, Jean Claude Gakosso, while presenting a report to the Council of Ministers.

He said the government approved a draft decree establishing this company, "in collaboration between Vietnam and Congo."

According to a report by the World Health Organization released in late 2013, global efforts to fight and eradicate malaria have helped to save the lives of some 3.3 million people since 2000.
