Guinean President Stresses Cuban Doctors Role Fighting Ebola

Havana, April 2 (Prensa Latina) President of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Conde, described as satisfactory the cooperation of Cuban physicians in his country fighting Ebola virus.

Exclusively interviewed by the Cuban press released today, the statesman expressed that besides the participation of health professionals from other countries, more than 2,000 members of the Cuban brigade stressed much more on the ground.

"We gave much importance to the work made by Cuban physicians in Coyah. I know it's hard, because fighting Ebola virus is very difficult, but we want Cuba continues here. There are sometimes problems with the population in Coyah. That is very stressful for a physician and we are so grateful, because despite those difficult working conditions, they continue," Conde said.

Granma newspaper reports that about 38 Cuban physicians and nurses arrived in Guinea responding an international call from the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the government of that country, to fight Ebola epidemics that also affected Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The Cuban Center to Treat Ebola virus in Coyah, in northern Guinea, has already saved more that 150 people.
