More than 100 Flights Cancelled in Japan due to Harsh Snowfall

Tokyo, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) At least 149 flights were cancelled today in Japan due to the harsh snowfall reported during the night in the eastern and northern areas of the country, said various airlines.

Japan Airlines cancelled 119 flights today, particularly at the Haneda airport and other airports in the region of Tohoku, something that affected some 10,000 passengers.

All Nippon Airways also cancelled 30 flights due to the storm that led to the first snowfall of 2016 in Tokyo and Yokohama, with levels of six and five centimeters, respectively.

The snowfall also caused damages in the public transport, hindering the rail services as the line Tokaido of the high speed train Shinkansen.

At least 117 people were taken to hospitals in the region of Kanto because they had fallen and suffered other minor injuries due to the snow.
